We are honored to have a special guest visit at this workshop from The Honorable Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Board President. Before leading a county that includes urban, suburban and rural areas, President Preckwinkle was an educator. Her leadership and public service exemplify the good that comes from sharing one's unique good.

Beginner Knit Class: Knit the Freedom Chosen with Miss Purl
Miss Purl's latest pattern, Freedom Chosen, is the perfect project for beginner knitters who want to learn how to follow pattern and for newbies who are ready to learn how to knit!

Democratic National Convention Craft and Chat Watch Party
Let’s craft and chat watch party during the Democratic National Convention. While we are registering voters and watching the Democratic National Convention, there will be a craft station for Miss Purl to help you hand embroider, bead or paint your own Kamala-inspired canvas-shoe. We will also address post cards that will be mailed to voters in swing states.
The watch parties are Monday, August 19 - Thursday August 22. Shoe crafting will take place Monday, August 19 - Wednesday August 21.
Attending the Crafters and Conversation event is free. The cost to purchase a 3-evening ticket to design and decorate a Kamala-inspired shoe is $65.47. One-day workshop ticket is $45. *Participants provide their own shoe*

Meet and greet the editor behind one of the most storied and original online knitting zines - Knitty. Knitty magazine is an OG of spice levels. Their patterns are memorably described from mellow to extra spicy. Designers and fiber artists like Stephen West, Kate Gilbert, and Ann Weaver published their early patterns on Knitty. So what is Knitty up to now? Come meet founder and editor Amy Sandler for an afternoon stitching social. We’ll talk about Fall making trends, upcoming patterns on Knitty, reminisce. Bring your current project, we’ll be stitching too!
